anyone bought a phone w/ plan via Newegg or Amazon?

Samsung Behold:
free after rebate or better at Amazon/Newegg.
$150 at local agents

HTC Shadow:
free after rebate or better at Amazon/Newegg.
$100 at local agents

anyone bought a cell phone plus plan (ie: 2 year contract) from Amazon and/or Newegg before? was there any "trick" or last minute nickle&diming?

Nope, worked fine for me (even managed to apply Verizon's quick rebate on top of the already lower price). I did call to make sure they were aware of what I wanted plan-wise.

It seems like a lot of websites, Newegg included (Amazon, not so much) feature the same cell phone purchasing service.

I got my TMobile blackberry 8120 and 2 year plan from amazon - the phone was free and I got the $50 rebate. No problems at all - the phones on amazon are so much cheaper then tmobile - especially if you sign a contract.

and you all kept your previous number too? Amazon has a page guiding you what to do to transfer your old number. Just want to double check and make sure.

hey andy.
i used amazon 2 1/2 years ago to sign up with tmobile, and just a few days ago i used amazon again to go with at&t this time.
a family plan with a bunch of samsung eternity's when they were free this weekend. 🙂

no tricks or nick and diming that i ran into.

edit: transferring numbers worked fine too, you just call your new carrier when you receive the phones and sim card. when they transfer the number the account with the old carrier will automatically close.

I've used letstalk in the past for TMobile and gotten awesome deals and money back. Might want to check them out as well.

I'll add in my redundant experience: I bought my first cellphone from Amazon and had a very good experience.

just be aware if you go with amazon and cancel the line within a certain time period they can back charge you, that is on top of what the carrier will charge you. I don't recall the time limits or amount off hand but you may want to check on it. I know its not likely but just some food for thought.
