Anyone been watching "Myth Busters"?

Discovery Channel has a new show dealing with Myths and are they real or not?

So far they have dealt with "the JATO powered car" (Myth), "The exploding Biscuit/ I've been shot in the head" (could have happened), "the falling lawyer", lawyer crashes through 24th floor window being Macho, (happened)! And several others!

All you Snopes fans should watch this show!!! 😉

Strange that they say they are new when I've seen most of them quite awhile ago.

The one where the one guy suffers ill effects like odd blood pressure when his skin was totaly covered in latex paint was quite interesting.

Actually if you cover your skin totally in a non-breathable membrane, even if you can breathe through your nose and mouth, you can still possibly suffocate. Skin handles a lot of respiration.

Have a cite for that? Overheat I can believe. Suffocate? I have some serious doubts about that.

Sure...that's why so many divers suffocate while diving.

Although it was still widely believed at the time Goldfinger was made (1964) that we "breathe" through our skin and that closing off all the pores in one's body would result in a quick death, we now know this to be false. (Another commonly accepted part of this concept was the notion that leaving a small portion of the body unpainted was sufficient to ward off disaster.) As long as a person can breathe through his mouth and/or nose, he will not die of asphyxiation, no matter how much of his body is covered with paint (or any other substance). This isn't to say that painting yourself isn't unsafe, however -- clogging all your pores prevents you from perspiring and could eventually cause you to die from overheating, and toxic substances found in paint could contribute to your demise if you stay in a painted state too long.

they did one on poppy seed muffins and @home drug tests. Don't remember details exactly but even 2 made him fail like 3 out of 5 tests.

They did one on exploding CD's. BTW, what time is it on again? I ran into like a week ago, and can't remember if its 9 on Sundays or Mondays?

Poppy seeds do make you fail drug tests. Thats why my upcoming physical for work, they had us warned not to eat anything with poppy seeds.

:|=

Exploding CD's and trying to explode breast implants rule.

Now only if I could get a bucket of that plastic flesh powder.

I saw the show that handled the exploding toilet (can you build up enough gas to blow your ass from the seat with a match or cigarette?) - No. they couldn't an explosion until they put a lot of gunpowder and aresols in the toilet.

Then they asked will you get less wet if you run or walk in the rain. They showed you get wetter by running. But another set of meteriologists say the opposite. I tend to believe these guys because it really was set up in a scientific way, in a controlled environment (instead of waiting for it to rain like the other guys).

The last one part of the show asked if there was such thing as a magic bullet. Could you kill someone with an ice bullet? No. They couldn't even get one to load without breaking up. However, they found a frozen meat bullet will penetrate but only do serious damage at very close range. They instead tried to duplicate the KGB's unbrella gun. And found out they could do penetration damage with compressed air. I forget what they used for the bullet, or if it was just air.

I like the idea of taking someone out with a round of ground round. 😛 Maybe in the next episode of Alias?
