Anyone been to the Dominican Republic?

Looking to take a 1 week getaway. There seems to be some decent looking, affordable resorts.

Any thoughts about vacationing here?

Ive been to Haiti twice, on the other side of Hispanolia, but never to the Dominican Republic.

It's between Dominican Republic or Antigua. Which would be better?

I've been to the DR, its a lot of fun. I am not the type of person to lie on the beach all day, though, and I was happily fuffilled. There is tons of stuff to do, and you can easily spend a day there.

Been both places. Not sure what you are looking for. Antigua has the better beaches and English is spoken there. DR is a lush, diverse island and with a knowledge of Spanish you can have a good time exploring the place.
