Going to Europe this summer for my friend's wedding on Mykonos. I'm going from July 9th to July 26th. My tentative plans are..

Land in Rome -
Fly to Mykonos for wedding.
Fly to Ibiza.
Fly to Barcelona.

Between Mykonos and Ibiza, I can fit in another city cause my body probably can't handle more than 3 days of partying in Ibiza. At first I was thinking of hitting up Nice/Cannes/Monaco but the flights are out of the way and there's just not enough time to enjoy it there.

Then I saw Mallorca and Santorini.

Mallorca is only a short ferry ride from Ibiza and would fit in nice.
Santorini is already around the Mykonos area and I've heard it's nice.

I don't know much about either and neither have ever been on my list to go. Any recommendations or other ideas? My main issue is cost of flights between the certain areas and routing. I don't have time to do any extended layovers at off airports.

Ya Mallorca is a Spanish island. I actually don't know much about it at all just that I've heard people say the name and apparently it's a pretty popular island.

We pulled into Palma when I did a Med cruise in the Independence. It was a long time ago but it was a fun port, it was a popular destination for German students in summer back when I went there.

Went to Mykonos and Santorini in 2010. Mykonos felt a lot smaller, with limited shopping or activities to do. There is an AWESOME gyro place called Saki's there. Do not miss it. I got the name from a lonely planet book, you won't be disappointed.

Santorini was terrific. It was crowded in June, but it didn't matter. Very romantic and great eating and shopping. Take the donkey ride to the top if you go. Swimming is good but a far walk from the city center. Hotels are not bad. The best restaurant we found was called the Ouseri. They had this dish called lamb kleptico that my wife and I will rave about forever.

Whatever you do dont take any excursions to the nearby volcano island or glass bottom boats unless you want to see dead sea and a pile of rocks...

I've been to Santorini. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It is very beautiful, up on a cliff, above the caldera (basically you are on the rim of a volcano, but the walls have fallen in long ago and the sea rushed in).

You could probably do Santorini in a short layover. But I would think that you'd want a minimum of two days there. The most laid-back and scenic town is Oia (The O is silent just say E-Ah). It is very expensive though. Thera is quite nice too and closer to the airport. But there might also be a boat trip from Mykonos if you wanted to spend more time on the water.

Even though it is a small island, transport is slow, so you can't do as much as you think you can.

Akrotiri is a good day-trip on the south of the island with a Minoan bronze age excavation going on.

I also really enjoyed a boat trip to the center of the volcano (another island).

one of my coworkers used to tell me stories about Mykonos. He used to go there every summer in the 90's and early 2000's. The way he described the clarity of the water, made me want to go there. But last I spoke with him, he's stopped going there because it got too crowded. Now he goes to Croatia I believe.

I'm sure it's still quite nice. My coworker is kind of a snob, really.

This. I did the same back quite a few years ago, but it was a really good time.

Santorini was beautiful when I was there. I swear that my donkey was purposefully trying to pin my leg between his body and the wall whenever it had the chance. A lady was concerned about getting on the donkey and the burly Grecian simply picked her up out of nowhere and planted her on it. I definitely enjoyed the food and the sights.

ME TOO!

On the Phillipean Sea, not the Independance.

I didnt get laid. But all my buddies did. I drank and danced and we all had fun at this massive club. And that was in the winter.

We went to Santorini for 2 nights during our honeymoon in Sept 2014, as we traveled throughout Greece. It was the last 2 nights and was extremely relaxing. We stayed in Imerovigli which is between Fira & Oia. They have a good bus transport system so we were able to check out Kamari beach and did 1 sunset in Oia. The sunset was gorgeous but it was standing room only packed - we got lucky and found a rooftop bar which did not need reservations so we weren't completely crushed. Thinned out pretty quick post-sunset.

Overall, I highly recommend it - we were happy with 2 days/2 nights, as mentioned it is rather expensive (meals mostly, we splurged on the room so I can't comment on "regular" accomodations).

Went to Santorini in May of 2011 and stayed here:

Was absolutely amazing. Everyone was incredibly friendly and the food was spectacular, even for a non-fish eater. I am dying to go back once the kiddies have moved out.

Geez, how much drinking do you plan to do?

Your liver can conceivably get a break in Barcelona with so many cultural things to do, but Mykonos, Santorini, Ibiza, and Mallorca are heavy sloppy drunk party hang outs.

Going to try to pace myself lol. Made the mistake of getting to hammered in Tokyo and spent a day or two hungover.
