I'm guessing whoever posted cares.
Even those who feel compelled to enter the thread only to talk about how much they hate Kyle or the forums, in their way, care.

As I understand it from the few threads I managed to read before they went down again - they had issues with theplanet.com and moved the forums to another host. I didn't see where they specifically mentioned any data corruption issues but I thought I saw a few things hinting at it... dunno for certain tho :/

theplanet sucks. I left them over a year ago after they botched up the request to install a hardware firewall.

And what makes them suck?

I've found very good answers over there to any questions i had:)

I just went there myself and see this sticky:

Kyle_Bennett HardOCP Editor-in-Chief

HardForum Database Rollback
Given that we have had VBulletin experts that cannot get our database working under load, we have rolled it back a week to before any of the changes that were made.

I requested an account once while ATOT was down, and never got a verification message. Oh well, sucks to be them I guess :)

Actually Kyle makes it suck. He is a asshat of biblical proportions. I too once loved the H. but alas those days are long ago and far away.

Kyle thinks he is the only serious tech guy on the Net and every one else is wrong. He was the only one who gave the Core 2 Duo a lukewarm review while every one else loved it. He was the only one who gave the Geforce 8500/8600 GPUs great reviews while the rest of the Net gave them the thumbs down.

Plus, he once posted a pretty bitchy/lame/childish rant directly against FiringSquad where he used the words "useless" and "canned benchmarks" about 42 times each. According to him, he is the only person who can review a CPU/GPU and the rest of the Hardware Sites are run by mindless drones.

He just comes off as a general asshole - not what an Editor-in-Chief of a serious website should be like.

I don't use their forums so I have no idea what he's like there.

Both methods work for me though yesterday I had to leave the www. off. Try this IP 75.126.99.102.

It is a shame to see such problems with the forum as the site has tons of valuable information and a great community.

They are indeed having MySQL issues and had to roll back to early August.

Thanks, the IP worked like a charm.

I tried that link there and while I can see the threads that explain everything, when I log in it simply brings me back to the same page as a guest. Hope it gets fixed soon. Seems like they're having a DNS issue too?

I just saw Kyle's post that ipconfig/flushdns should fix the DNS issue. Did so and it's working for me, logged in and all. With and without the www prefix.

Is this the correct command for Windows Vista?

ipconfig /flushdns

I just typed it and still nothing.

Just to catch up, that command is correct but both URLs are working on our Vista PC today anyway.
