OP might want to open Google Contacts in a computer browser and double check his contact list is setup properly.

I've been using DW Dialer Plus for the last couple years and it is awesome. Way better than going to iOS.

I didn't like the Kit Kat dialer at first either but now that i've had the phone for a couple months using DW Dialer Plus, now all my most dialed contacts are nice and at the top of the KK dialer. It's better after it learns your habits. I switch between the two nowadays.

Its frustrating that no one else in this discussion actually understands your problem.

I do, and I sympathise and its driving me nuts that there is little discussion about this on the net. And solutions like 'install another dialer' are just as unhelpful, because there are some nice features about the new android dialer.

Given there is a search option up the top of dialer that searches all contacts by default, I don't see why there is not the option to change the contacts button from "all contacts" to "MY contacts".
(and for those that don't get it- maybe you don't manage your google contacts the way google first encouraged us to do, i.e. label regular contacts as 'my contacts')

I still don't know what you are talking about.

This is Kitkat 4.4.2

it's not a sync problem, it's a display problem. He wants to be able to set the group to display to "my contacts", not the default, unchangeable option which is "contacts with phone numbers"

That *was* a Display option there that I screenshotted. If I unchecked those boxes, the unchecked groups do not show up in my Contacts list.

You have to change the display option in the People app, though, not from the Dialer itself.

If you're talking to me, I don't have a 'People' app and got to that option by hitting the dialer (or the Phone app) and scrolled right to 'Contacts' tab.
