I'm thinking it's one of the worst ways to die... doesn't seem quick either. Wonder what the entire process consists of...

I agree it probally would be one of the worst ways to die. Along with being eaten. My little sistser almost drowned a while ago but my mom ran in and got her.

meh, i only crapped in your thread because you crapped in mine. eye for an eye.
that was crapping ? I said the dog probably barks at the mailman everyday... why would anyone check every time? Don't be an idiot. That's not crapping.

I'd say so, I was swimming near the bottom of the pool and a friend somehow managed to stand ON ME, holding me underwater. I've read that drowning is very peaceful if you don't figh it though.

I saw a program with some people who had been saved after drowning and they said once you realize that you can't escape, it is very very peaceful.

I second that, though that was another instance where I was just bored and was sitting on the bottom of the pool. Another time I was swimming at the bottom of the pool and miscalculated how much breath I had left so as I was swimming to the top I was just about ready to breathe in water (very scary).

I guess.. in some of the pics of the dead, it looks like they are reaching out with a death grip...

It happened to me, and that sounds right. The main thing I noticed was how cold the water was when it hit my lungs, then I thought "It's like in The Abyss, I can breathe.", then nighty-night, then after being beat on for a couple of minutes vomiting an unbelievable amount of liquid. If you died it would be just like that except the vomiting.

I forgot how old I was but I remember drifting out to the deep end at a pool and almost drowning. Thankfully a life guard saved me. 😱

Drowning is never fun.🙁
But my brother always tried to do it to me once in a while(a stupid joke-don't ask)😀 🙁

I almost drowned white water rafting. It would have been ironic being that it was junior year in high school and I was captain of the swim team at the time. I'll paraphrase the story as much as possible:

-School trip to NC, on second to last day we go white water rafting
-Guide tries to flip the raft
-I was an arrogant punk and was telling people that I would swim the whole river, so I let myself be thrown in
-I got caught in this wave type thing where the water goes over this rock and pulls you down under the water..just enough so that my life jacket kept me near the top, but not above the water's surface and I couldn't get my head up.
-After about a minute (guide's estimate, I thought it was forever!) I was out of strength and literally my life flashed in front of my eyes so I was just about to give up when I was let up to get some air
-I was let up because another raft was going over the rapid and blocked the water for an instant
-I got some breath then went back under, the raft hit me on the head and dragged me out of the cycle
-I came out from under the raft and was promptly hit on the head by an oar by a girl in the raft who got scared when she saw me

Scariest time of my life, the cold water just sucks the breath right out of you and I felt really helpless. I'm not kidding about my life flashing before my eyes, it really does happen. For the whole rest of the day and the night I kept feeling like I was still being bashed around under water, it was a bit surreal.
