I've got an Inwin case with Powerman 235w power supply which is not on AMD's 'approved' list. I've heard the KT7 is pretty power-steady, but I might go with a 440BX or VIA 133A board instead of buying a new case or P.S. Anyone's experience with this would be a help - thanks in advance!

Right now I've got an Athlon 700 (classic) at 840 (on a KA7-100) in an InWin S500 (235W Powerman) and a TBird 800 at 900 with the same case. I tried the TBird with both EnerMax 300 and 400 watt P/S's and didn't get any different results. It is of course possible that these P/S's will burn out more quickly, but only time will tell that.

Tickbird,

DURONs are not the power hogs like BIRDS and Classics. 700 Durons only suck up 22.9 watts, not much more than a Pee3. The 'Total' wattage of a supply is pretty meaningless. What is more important is the total of the +3.3 and +5. (you can't just add up the max of the two, the combined total is limited to less than the total of the individuals). +12 comes into play when you add fans and HDD, CD/DVD etc.

Course when you OC the Duron, you'll use more juice.
