Meh. It's good for a chain, but I know about a dozen places in town with better seafood, and I don't live in that big of a city.

I'm guessing you're surrounded by ocean, Mr. Florida.

Well, I'm an hour and a half away from the ocean, so I wouldn't say "surounded." I'm just saying that any good independent restaurant will be better. Those cheese biscuits are good, though.

Its all about bunkys.

for those of you who are discovercard holders, you can apply your cashback reward for $25 gift cards, for $20. The card is good for Red Lobster and Olive Garden. We've taken advantage a few times.

Red Lobster is sort of the Olive Garden of seafood. It's decent, safe, reliable, consistent from restaurant to restaurant, in other words it's exactly what you would expect from a national chain. It's not nearly as good as the best non-chain restaurants and it's a lot better than the worst non-chain restaurants. If you like one Red Lobster you can go to a Red Lobster anywhere in the country and be satisfied. That's the whole point of chains, familiarity.

The "Olive Garden of Seafood", well they are the same company, so it makes sense.

It's better than olive garden, but definitely not great. Yeah you can get better stuff locally, but the better stuff is noticeably more expensive.

personally i cannot stand fish or any other seafood for that matter (allergic to shellfish) so a lot of Red Lobster is off limits to me, but i always end up there with a gf or the parents who like it and get either a NY strip steak or their grilled chicken salad and both are pretty darn good. Definately, biscuits there are a must though! rank right up there with olive garden breadstix (i really want to meet the masterchef who created those "appetizers" for the company they are both run under...he is a GENIUS)

WTF I must be going to the wrong red lobster. I've been there twice and both time HORRIBLE. Worst seafood place I've EVER been to. I order some coconut shrimp and :|, I've had boogers bigger than the size of the shrimp.

It depends on where you live.

I wasn't intending to speak in generalities. You can get better stuff locally HERE in madison, WI but it's more expensive.

When I lived in LA, I never really cared for Red Lobster. I've eaten there a few times but it was always at someone else's suggestion. If I were to suggest the restaurant, I could think of any number of better seafood restaurants in the area and would never even consider Red Lobster as an option.

That being said, it's not bad food and you won't be puking as you leave the restaurant, it's just pretty generic in taste and preparation as far as seafood goes.
