Currently have 512mb and am curious would putting another 256mb help newer games out? If I go with a 6600GT AGP I am gonna have to go with 256mb. Or I could drop it and get a 6800 but the ram will hold me back.

What's your system? The difference between 768MB and 1024MB is often that you can run 1GB in dual channel, while it's impossible to run 768MB as dual channel since you'd have different RAM sizes in the two channels.

If you just have a single channel board, then upgrading to a 6600GT plus 768MB of DDR would probably be the better upgrade. If you're on a P4 'C', switching back to single channel might have a pretty big impact (5-10%).

and im sure you can get 512mb of used ram @ $50.

Can't get PC3200 used for that. If so it would be generic as H**L. Cheapest I've see 512mb is $60.
