ok, so i just got home from work and hooked the iphone upto to itunes and it says the iphone is in recovery mode. basically i have to do a system restore and set it back to the factory settings. is there any way I can save all of my files and settings that are on there? All of my contacts are on there as well as some photos and such. I havent synched the thing to itunes since I bought it so none of my contacts are saved in itunes.

I don't know of a way of saving your information - that's precisely what syncing is for. Were you running the latest iPhone software, 1.0.2?

I hadnt synched the phone since I bought it because I dont own a computer right now. I sold off mine and have been waiting for a new mac pro to come out. I have been using my wife's notebook so I didnt want to save all my crap on hers. Turns out I probably should have.

Went to the apple store and my fears were confirmed. The iphone had gone into recovery mode and had to be reset to the factory settings. Any data that wasnt save was gone...which was everything.

I am now in the process of trying to get all my contacts back along with emails, address, etc. :(
