How are cold sores spread?

nah, some people seem resistant to getting it. or, you might already have it, and be completely without symptoms.

My Dad had cold sores. They only ever appeared when he was under extreme stress, tho. I've only ever seen him with a sore above his lip maybe 2 or 3 times. My mother never caught them from him, nor did the kids. Just get your girlfriend to manage her cold sores properly. If she is healthy, they really shouldn't be constantly appearing. Also, you can prevent them from appearing if you take the right medicine, I think. As long as you refrain from kissing her when she has an obvious sore, you should be fine. Most of the time the virus is dormant, anyway. A cold sore is not the end of the world, stop being so hysterical about it.

As many as 80% of adult in the U.S. have oral herpes. I've never had a cold sore, but many people with it are asymptomatic, so whi knows...
