Haven't watched in years, who is the professor dude that Clark is talking to. Is he another superhero? Or from Krypton also? What do he and Clark share?

Smallville borrows characters and themes from the comics, but isn't faithful to the DC history Shadowknight.

After some research, it seems that Marsters will be back next episode (previously, he was only going to be in Epi's 3, 4, and 7).
