that being said, the Pizza and dogs rock. I think I'll stop by Portillos for lunch and get a deep dish from Gino's East for dinner.

Drivers in Chicago are pretty good... its the drivers in central Illinois that suck. I love being able to to 90mph+ on the highway with no cops in sight.

Considering the salary that my wife will be making compared to what housing costs and everything esle are, we'll save thousands upon thousands a year living there vs. other places we looked at.

I hope you aren't moving into Peoria, itself. Their school district sucks hard. Any of the surrounding suburbs would be a better choice, although I've been moved away too long to tell you which one. Dunlap springs to mind, though.

We'll be on the western edge of Peoria, still in city limits but in Limestone community school district. We're camping out there for probably 5 years and living cheap building up a big downpayment to plop down on a couple acres west of Peoria in the Brimfield school district. It's a very small school district but the system is top notch for education.

And yes, District 150 (Peoria) sucks badly. We are avoiding it like the plague.

Illinois != Chicago Metro Area. Unless you are the governor who's never seen past Bolingbrook.

vi_edit = definitely have to find the correct suburb of Peoria as EatSpam mentioned...unless you want your kids to try crack by they time they are 7 and be OG's by 9.

I personally would rather live out west, but have gotten settled in pretty well here too.

edit for vi_edit: looks like you've got it dialed in :D

That's cool... working for Cat, like everyone else in town? :)

I kind of miss the Peoria area... its a little more built up than Bloomington-Normal, so there are more choices of where to live - actual suburbs.

Southern Illinois is very nice, Chicago is fun. Everything in between is a lot like Iowa/Indiana/Ohio/wall board.

you'll hate chicago then.

I grew up in Chicago. Never had a problem.

Then you wouldn't have a problem in the Southwest either.

Nifty, I live in Bartlett too. That average home price is a little low, I haven't even seen a home up for sale at less than 250k.

I've lived in central illinois for the past 10 years.... I still can't fathom how most of you got drivers licenses. I have people pulling out in front of me several times a day and most people can't drive the speed limit to save their life.
