Anybody want to see a bad transition to vbulletin?

Fusetalk is crap on a stick, the search feature is horrible. I use to search before I posted so I wouldn't be reposting shit somebody else posted. But 8/10 times even with searching when I was STILL re-posting. I for one won't miss it at all! I'd rather see a modded PHPBB than this *seriously*

Now remember this folks, a bad software transition does not a poor product make.

Penny-Arcade has a flawless VBulletin forum.

Fusetalk has that feature and I think always have had it, yet they still don't allow it on this forum, and for good reason (this can be debated). Reasoning is that this forum is viewed in the office and putting NSFW in the title not only doesn't always happen but simply isn't enough and if you happen to be looking at goatse the moment your boss walks in, the forum is going to have to listen to you bitch for weeks on end about how you lost your job because of this forum and blah blah blah.

I think what this all can be boiled down to is that vbulletin is a net negative benefit for those who are already happy with their forum software and a net positive for those who aren't. In the case with fusetalk, the POSTERS are happy with the forum software and that's what counts.

It's bigger than that, proxy web filtering software would probably flag this site inappropriate based on embedded images and the site would be blocked for everyone at work who operates under web filtering software.

Pics.bbzzdd.com is blocked for "scantily clad women"

You do have a point with myspace, but custom avatars will make this place awesome.

Nope, no they wouldn't. Custom avatars are only "cool" for hobby forums, where you can show off part of your work as your avatar. Video games, cars, etc.

most custom ones wouldnt be bad if they were limited to the size we have now. i shudder at the thought of images though...especially in sigs. makes me want to have a seizure

Anything is better than fusetalk. I can't wait till we have custom avatars and inline images. Fuck yeah, this place will be awesome.

Yeah, that'll be great!

You sound like a noob. Oh, wait. You are.

Ok, fine, no custom avatars. Inline images would be nice though. They can only add to the quality of a post.

The few times that images have accidently been turned on here it's been chaos. It was even worse when it was found out you could embed images in the topic. Anyone else remember that?

Images are fine. I read Jeepforum, NAXJA, and Jeepsunlimited, and they all allow inline images. It's a useful feature. None of them allow images in sigs, because that's freaking annoying.

The site is a mess and people are furious over there. Apparently the reason why the site was transitioned to vBulletin was to save money, how wonderful..I wonder what the reason for AT to tansition to vBulletin from fusetalk is...It must be better than that....right?

Oh yikes, it REALLY is bad :Q

IMO, the lack of that is what makes AT forums great.

People always bitch about every new forum change here and then after awhile it calms down and it goes back to normal. I don't really give a shit, I care about the content of posts and the community more than what software is used. But it will be beautiful to have a functioning search.
