Anybody want some seti WU's? Files for setiQ and raw WU's available

Here you go:

If you are running your own setiQ then go here for setiQ Work Unit files:

WARNING: These files are best for private Q use. If your Q connects to OrangeKids don't get the ones named WU100 or higher, if you add these files to a public Q there is a higher chance your users will get repeats

Files are up there now, hopefully will have more soon

(thanks for the files Dennis & Don!!!)

Here are plain Work_Unit.sah files:

18 Work Units 4.5 MB

18 more Work Units 4.5 MB

16 more Work Units 4.1 MB

These are all different units, no repeats. I can not guarantee you have never had these before - but chances are you good that you have not.

edit: I added these to the archive with my dir structure - you may want to ignore that when you save them to your system 😉

Also- I am willing to host more WU's if anyone wants to zip some and send them to me just send me a PM and let me know.

Well I feel good about doing my part for all the Q users. What a great service and idea Wiz. I guess thats what makes you a seti Wiz.

This is the error i get:

11:53pm: Q0008 Removing dangling Workunit: wu0000043a
it has an error for each of the WUs I dumped into the Queue folder. The error report came from an Err_.txt file in the folder i dumped the WUs in.

Any help?

oops, got those from Fingers- anybody have any ideas?

Hmmm, I dunno, all i did was copy them strait out of my Q. Maybe somebody else will come along and know what to do.

there is an .ini file that goes with each WU. maybe those should be copied too? they only seem to have info on the WU in them

example:
Workunit/Name=13my01aa.4822.27554.811.184
Workunit/StartRa=10.45
Workunit/StartDec=25.03
...
...
...

Does that help?

Setiqueue has a wild naming scheme for WUs, but that's because the WUs are all normally named work_unit.sah. The renaming allows many WUs per client queue folder.

I believe if you move the WU + client.ini into the queue folder, then restart the queue, it should hopefully accept it.

No serialb, you are incorrect. Seti sends them out to many people for a good reason - accuracy.
If an interesting signal is confirmed many times by different people then they can be pretty sure it's a good thing to spend more time looking at.
Anyway, don't kid yourself into thinking you are the only one examining the data you receive. With 3.5 million of us there are a lot of repeats.

Hopefully I will have corrected setiQ files for download later today. For now there are 52 Work_Unit.sah files available - put each in a seti driver subfolder or in a seti Cli folder and crunch.

how do you make these work with seti driver???

just put them in a new folder??

Yes. Stop Setidriver, copy them in, restart. 🙂

Just to clarify:

The first set of files are for setiQ - I assume those of you who run a Q know what to do with these.

The second set of files are raw WU's that you can copy into your seti folder and crunch one at a time or into your seti driver sub directories. Like Poof said, stop seti driver, copy the files in and then restart seti driver.

I've got one used (raw) WU available. Please post here when you've downloaded it, so it doesn't get re-run indefinitely.

Also, Shux, the Wildnet is off for the moment. It wastes WUs like crazy, and I know they're in short supply right now. So please go ahead and move all but about 10 WUs out of my queue; more if others need them. I'm working on a non-wasteful solution this weekend; I have all the components but I need to put them together. I hope to be back up soon.

Edit: Oh, and if you can retrieve any of the WUs send to my machines that were never returned, please do so. I don't expect to be up again until late Friday, at the earliest.

Edit2: WU deleted, link deleted. If we need more WUs again sometime, I should be able to provide more, fresher WUs.

Wiz,

Yes, they send the same WUs over to multiple users to verify its integrity. However, if the everyone of us doing the same batch of WUs, I doubt it means anything to SETI@home in general. It's those guys in Berkeley decide how they want the WUs recycled, not us in terms of data checking.

up to the top for those who need WU
