Does anybody have experience with Artifact Tester 5?

I saw this program recommended in another forum as available at MajorGeeks. I did a d/l, loaded it, and ran it some last night testing my 8500 at 300/300. It took about 25 minutes, and found 0 artifacts at that speed. (this was the "hardcore" setting..)

How does this work? Is it generating fractals which aren't shown on screen? CPU usage is 100% when this test is running, and there's a setting which claims to be a system stress test. Temps will climb using this program! My CPU went up 10C during the duration of the test, which is unusual..

So what tests, etc. do you use, Bgeh?

I was just "shootin' in the dark" last night when I tried it, and I'd like to understand how it works. Apparently I can OC higher than 300/300 on my 8500, according to the results.

Well, AT is just another tool. It's not a perfect stability indicator for a cards overclockability.

For example, my GF3 passes AT at 255MHz core, but crashes with 3dMark2003.
