Geico really does save you money, yea.. the ad is not a fraud go figure

Unless you can qualify for USAA. I have called Geico several times and they do not even come close to USAA. The CSRs are always surprised and have even made "Wow" comments.

What do you have to do to qualify for USAA?

From the USAA website:

Who's Eligible?

* Active duty officers and enlisted personnel
* National Guard and Reserve officers and enlisted personnel
* Officer candidates in commissioning programs (Academy, ROTC, OCS and OTS)
* Former spouses and adult children of USAA members

Bah... no love for veterans. Oh well.

Hmmm.....If you are a veteran :)thumbsup: ) I would definitely call to verify.

<Edit> I just called. Veterans qualify if retired within the last year. The CSR asked if the retiree was FBI or Secret Service which leads me to believe there may be some exemption for them.

Why not call them and ask them, Gieco, the actual insurance company about their policy's instead of a grip of arrogant and jaded dudes who spend most of their day replying to posts in hopes of increasing the size of their e-penises?

Have any of you geico insurance holders made a claim?
I want to know how difficult it is to work with their claims department.

I haven't made a claim but I too can attest to them saving me money on my car insurance.

Yup, it cut my cost of full coverage in MD in half. I'm 27 btw.

how is Geico in NJ ?

Not great, but not bad considering other insurance companies out there. I got quoted $1800 for a year buying a 2003 350z Track Edition, I"m 23 years old, and I only have one ticket in the past three years for running a red light.

Could anyone tell me what they actually paid compared to what they got quoted for online, etc.?

Anyone? Last post about the quote, and I'll let this thread die. Thanks!

They quoted me and my wife at $800 for 6 monthes for our '97 Mazda 626. I went with Allstate instead because they only want $480 :)

Thanks for checking into it... I've been out for a few years, so I guess I won't qualify.

How involved is the process to remove a car from a policy and then add the same car back on later? Is this easy enough to be done multiple times a year?

Geico is (relatively) cheap because they drop all their policyholders if they've had one accident or one traffic citation.

One more vote here for USAA. :)

Has anyone had experience with AIG for auto insurance? I've heard that they have super good rates also...

I see allot of people here claiming geico saved them money but that was not my experience with them. I had geico for 7 years without a claim or ticket, then I got a ticket for 10mph over and a few months later got a letter from geico literally scolding me like I was there child and saying they will give me another chance and not raise my rate. I dropped them that day and went with American Family. To my surprise I get better coverage with a 50% drop in rate. This may be a isolated deal but that was my experience.
