Bought it at an Oak furniture store. The Futon Factory also has a nice selection of matresses. Since you plan on using it as your primary bed, I suggest you get a wooden frame.Originally posted by: Triumph
Who here uses a futon as their only bed? I think I'm gonna start doing this, but I need a good pad. Where'd you get yours?

Don't be stingy on the mattress thickness. buy the thickest one you can afford one. nothing less than 8" and 9" if you can.
Get a piece of 5# (6# if you can get it/afford it) viscoelastic (memory) foam cut to size. Sleep on it.Originally posted by: Jehovah

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but is there a way to make my futon more comfortable? The mattress was used for 2 years and it's flattened out, so I can feel thos damn bars on my back . . ..
*new idea for new thread!
You're going to have to look/ask around in your area. The major retailers that sell them as sleeping goods will rape you on prices. Find some manufacturers or wholesalers of the stuff.Originally posted by: Triumph
I already have one, it's a metal frame. I didn't know there were wood frame ones out there. Howard, where do you get this memory foam? I was gonna just get some eggs, is the viscoelastic foam that much better?

Maybe I oughta just buy a full size mattress and not worry about folding it up. (Or is a futon a queen size?)
