anybody tint their own car windows?

i'm thinking of doing my own tint on my new tC. the only reason i didn't tint my old car was because the back window was hard to do. but on the hatch back its lifts up and is easy to get to. i want to see what materials you guys use to tint your own car. are the tints from kragen or autozone good?

I would let someone else handle the tinting job. It's real easy to come out with cracked or bubbled tint jobs unless you have some experience.

EDIT: Plus, most places have a lifetime guarentee if you get any bubbles or cracks, they'll fix it for free.

DO NOT do it yourself. Shell out $150-200 for a nice professional job you'll love for years.

You know those ghetto tint jobs you see on the road with huge bubbles and ugly lines? That's your result in few hours if you pursue this choice.

I tinted my beater car myself... worked out pretty good, but I have experiance doing vinyl and stuff... if you dont... pay to have it done... very easy to screw up...

So, I 5th that... 🙂

i've done vinyl before, with the soap water and squeegee and heatgun. how different is tinting from vinyl? i always thought it was the same thing.

Seriously, unless you know what you are doing, dont do it.

Some guy i used to work with did his own and it had all kinds of little bubbles in there and looked like crap. This guy was pretty handy and had done a lot of really nice custom work on his car before too.
