Anybody struggle with bad posture?

For the longest time I have had (what I think is) bad posture. I find myself sitting down on the couch and then notice that the position i'm in is totally uncomfortable. Same thing with being at the computer, or even driving. I find that I'm straining or gripping the wheel tightly. I'm not stressed, i'm just driving along enjoying the breeze. I think that it is a learned thing. So I have to consciously tell myself to relax, or change positions.

Anybody else do this? What have you done to help?

I have that, I think one leg is slightly longer than the other. There is nothing to really help you, it will give you serious problems later in life. Try a chiropractor

I used to slouch a lot and now I don't at all... at least when standing. I just had to consciously think about not slouching while standing and now it's natural for me to stand up straight and uncomfortable for me to slouch.

go to a chiropractor and get your back checked out. they might make it easier for you to maintain good posture and help give you exercises to do for yourself to improve posture.

also, you can do this one exercise daily... it's called breuger's exercise or posture. basically, you sit at the edge of your chair, bend your elbows to 90 degrees, try and have your shoulder blades touch each other, tighten your abs, and tuck your chin down. if you do that for like 30 seconds about 5-8 times a day, you'll be helping yourself get into a better posture.

bad posture is usually directly related to being scrawny or flabby and weak.

Get your ass in shape. Train with weights especially lower back and core.

I've been using the lock in my chair that doesn't let me lean back, seems to help some.

I have to watch myself, especially at long computing sessions.
I start out sitting properly and end up slouched with my head lower than the top of the monitor.
I guess its almost like I'm melting and sliding out of the chair :)

One thing I do that seems to help is to lay on a hard surface.
My home has tile floors and laying on that helps to straighten back out my back.

My bad posture was caused by being on crutches from 7-10 years old and staring at the floor for several hours a day. My neck eventually got so used to curving forward that it became second nature/permanent and was a major contributing factor to my surgery to fuse three vertebra together due to two of my disks herniating in my neck a couple of decades later.

posture is helped by building up the muscles. work out. keep good posture during workouts, bulk up and it forms your posture naturally. course i have seen one slouching body builder, that was a freaky looking guy.

and of course don't buy cheap chairs and desks... set it up ergnomically or you'll naturally start to slouch

Damn, I'm all 3 of those. However, I am getting a gym membership on Monday.

My problems arent quite posture, they are from a kink in my lower back, but I was told to always have a soft high-back chair to sit in, and to make my back flat against it. You can see the chair I have now at http://foxtecha.com/images/apa/
