Anybody still recall how to mod Oblivion or use OBMM?

I downloaded Oblivion Mod Manager and the three unofficial patches...no idea what to do with them now. Internet search isn't helping much.

I was hoping to get the game working all spiffy before I try messing with anything else, but I would eventually like to improve the look of the game.

Funny thing is the older Morrowind was much easier to mod, since somebody created on giant self install mod that fixed everything up. I looked and couldn't find anything like this for Oblivion, but if it exists let me know. I prefer to keep things close to vanilla if possible unless it makes sense (like improved UI, fixed/improved mechanics etc).

Thanks, but that doesn't help me. I wouldn't know how to use it either. On top of that, the mods specifically call for OBMM.

OBMM is pretty much like the default launcher, just with more options. First you copy the content of the patches into the game's folder, then you launch OBMM and make sure everything you want is ticked in the list.

With the unofficial patches you need to load them in a specific order - generally AFTER the stock game files. Their readmes will have more info. You can use OBMM to change the launch order by moving the files in the list up or down.

Above for OBMM You will also need OBSE (script extender) LOOT or Wyre Bash, TessIV edit. You might also need OBGE (graphics extender) depending how far you want to go in modding. Please be advised modding Oblivian is more complex than just throwing in mods via OBMM. (Nexus MM is another choice).
I played Oblivian a yearr ago, and depended heavily on You Tube tutorials. Good luck.

Mods like ESM or ESP go in the Data folder of Oblivion or Morrowind or Skryim.

Launch the mod manager again, they should be right there, ready for checking off. If you dont see them in the mod manager you did something wrong. Maybe you have to manually specify the game installation folder. Check the Settings.

Running into a stupid a*s problem.
Mouse and keyboard inputs die after 5-10 minutes, even on a vanilla install.

Apparently the "fix" is to install the K-Lite CODEC pack as per 4.21 :

No way I'm installing that as it will gunk up my dshow filter chain (currently running ffdshow with very select CODECs). Already tried adding Oblivion and OblivionLauncher to the ffdshow exception list but that did not seem to help.
