The UI and interface scared me right way.
That said Ive watched some of the "lets play Tor" type youtube videos, and the gameplay looks okay, if the storylines and lore/universe/imersion of fans, okay Im sure people will stay with it.
Starwars is a huge franchise and most geeks love the movies and the lore of it.
But yeah... not really innovative in any sense from what Ive seen, that said,
I think its one of those MMO's that ll last longer than most
(I dont think it ll have a sudden wave of everyone leaveing it).

Did you try Vangaurd Sage of heros?
I loved the class systems and classes, the balance seemed fine too.
On top of that they had a unique trade called Diplomacy, it was awesom.
Why did it fail? it was reaaaally poorly optimised, so it ran like crap on most systems (for seemingly no visual quality reasons). It was full of bugs, servers going up and down.
Age of Conan?
Pretty demanding game, very pvp focused....killed game? they started redueing things, nerfing things to hell, changeing skil systems...., they lied about content, and had no real endgame content when it was first out. That ontop of pvp game was very unblanced, and it didnt look like they where trying to balance it. Today its free2play.
FFXIV:
dont get me started....*grumbles like a angry old man*
How the fack, could they ruin the beautifull game they had in ffxi? its like they took everything they did right with ffxi and threw it out the window, trying to do something new/more WoW ish approch.
That doesnt mean, publishers shouldnt try new stuff.... ffxi was already differnt enough from WoW, that it stood out on its own. Hell I bet theyd be swimming in subs now if they have kept the same combat/interphase ect ect system from ffxi.
You should have seen the sh*t storm the beta for FFXIV was... everyone was complaining about everything more or less. NOTHING got fixed, they launched the game anyway, as it was. Why bother haveing beta testing if you dont plan on listning to the fans of the genre that love it?
its differnt things for differnt MMOs, but the publishers really should be takeing notes, atleast know what to avoid when launching a new title, it these faults keep repeating.
