I got an instant woody when I saw the words Quake 2 splash across my screen.. I haven't played Q2 in at least 5 years.. Best DM ever, best CTF, best everything... I loved camping, Q2DM1, Q2DM8, Q2DM2, all those MAPS OWNED!

I have never got into Quake 1 or Quake 2 (mainly because my system was too slow), but I got into Quake 3 heavily and I still play it when I can. There aren't too many games that offer the ability to jump in, shoot shit, and jump out on a whim. Fantastic! The impeccably-fast shooting action keeps the blood pumping in my veins. Is it normal to sweat excessively while playing? 😛

I got a new rig coming this week, so I hope it runs in Vista x64! 😀

Q2 is the game that made me start upgrading my computer. Before, I could play most games with an acceptable frame rate and the graphics were OK...Q2 sent me out to buy a VooDoo2 card when they came out. $250 for 12 Mb or video RAM! WOOHOO!! I was amazed at the difference that card made in game play and graphics. It was like a whole new game. Of course, things have gone down hill from there.

I still fire up a SP game from time to time, but didn't know any of the MP servers were still going.

I loved Q2 CTF, pure, mods, rails-only, etc. but I stopped playing when speed cheats and other hacks got widespread on public servers.

I played a bit of Q3 but it just wasn't as fun. The next online game that matched the fun of Q2 for me was UT 2004 Onslaught.

In high school, my computer science teacher and the rest of the class just played Action Quake 2 for the ENTIRE PERIOD. It was fucking awesome. A few years ago I used to make my own maps and play with a lot of my friends. Man... I miss that.

Yep there are still 303 Quake 2 servers up and about 100 people playing. The only problem is the ppl still playing Q2 after all this time are NOT n00bs, so prepare to get your ass handed to you.

I was at my friend's house last week and he had dl'ed the original Doom from Xbox Live and was playing it. He said there weren't any multiplayer servers though. Boo to that!

I think my favorite all time deathmatch game was Doom 2. My buddy and I used to play Map 16 for hours on end over dial up. Our house phone used to be busy all the time, lol.

Unreal Tournament was pretty darn good too.

My favorite was probably TF on Quake, but Q2 got a LOT of love from me as well. Anyone ever play the NIQ mod? I loved that mod.
