<< Didn't work so i scrapped it. >>

I'm using like 4 different distributed computing programs (listed in order of most used to least used):

1) seti@home - uses often
2) dcypher
3) popular power
4) entropia
5) rc5 - uses least

the reason I looked into other programs is because like, lsd said - the others get so much attention that it dwarfs the little guys. popular power does work - you just have to be connected online. I've done only 25 tasks in 6 hours and am already in the top 50% - that'll show you how few ppl are using PP. so give it a chance: you can still run rc5 or setihome when you're working on your comp and have pp as your screensaver (again, you'll have to be online...I'm gonna email the author to fix this little annoyance). what it does is help find info or cures for the flu - which is fatal (more so in other countries than the u.s.).

EmperorNero, i've no idea why mine doesn't work. It downloaded awefully slowly a work unit that was stated as 4+ MB but it continued right on until i downloaded nerarly 7MB of data.

Afterthat, it started configuring and never finished configuring even after 1 hour on 1Ghz.

By the way, i'm on Cable, i'm always online.

I'm not sure why yours doesn't work. you can try to d/l the newest version or go to the screensavers setting and set your network connections to cable.

I tried it and it kept locking up my server... Staying with RC5... No problems at all running that client.

I am running their client. I am making a gradual switch from SETI to Popular Power (non-profit tasks).

Yeah, but rpaller won't switch everything over to Popular Power until he gets at least to 1,000 on SETI!! :D
