They had the best biscuits ive ever had in my life. I'd pay big bucks for that recipe. But i cant find a copy cat recipe on google. :( their breakfast steaks were VERY tasty as well.

Unfortunately, they've all closed down, at least the ones anywhere near me. :(

Anyone else used to love this place?

Yes, and the only reason I ever went was for the biscuits. Almost as good as the old ladies homemade biscuits.

We used to call my grandfather "Grandy" while growing up, and we would have this family ritual every 2 or 3 weeks where we all went out to get our hair cut, get his car washed, and finish up with breakfast at Grandy's. I loved it!

They used to give out lollipops back when I was frequenting there in the 80's as a kid. That was my favorite part lol.

"They're still around."

Yea, thanks Dave. The last remaining few are just so far from me now. Like 115 miles is the closest one. Still, I'm pulling a road trip one morning for their breakfast, biscuits and breakfast steaks!

"
their fried okra gave me food poisoning, *** that place"

I seriously doubt that. You got if from some rotten meat some place else.

When I was a kid, I went to Grandys a few times. Unfortunately, all of them around here are closed many years ago (at least 5-10 years).

I wonder how good food places close down.

I owned a really good food truck business that went down so I know those reasons, but for brick and mortar locations. What happens?

I was under the impression brick and mortar locations go out of business all the time. Heck, I've seen it countless times. There is a few places near my hood where like 5 or 6 restaurants have tried in the exact same location, and failed. Some just have shitty food. Some charge too much. Who knows.

You had a food truck? Cool! What kind? Why'd you shut it down?

the reasons are as many as to why your food truck went out of business.

besides location as long as you run a clean, consistent well-serviced operation you should be operating a cash-making machine.

sorry its not that easy. as i said there are a million reason why a restaurant would fail as most do statistically. just a few reasons off my head. food cost, labor cost, rent cost, utilities cost, bad employees, bad management, peoples pallets change, stale menu.

not to be mean but if you dont know this, then take your lesson learned with your food truck and never get in the biz again.

That is the only thing, She doesn't use a recipe, neither did my mother or grandmother... She does it by feel as she says.
