I think the director's name was Chris Chung. Anime's impact on his drawings were obvious as his style and motion was fluid and smooth. It was also coupled with American comics influence which made his work very distinct. My last recognition of his work was in Animatrix where he contributed one episode of his own.
Aeon Flux was the bomb back in the 90s. It was mildly amusing and disturbing for a 15 year old me back then. Do you remember the episode where a city was physically divided by working class and the better? And this couple wanted to make an escape to the other end but the only way was to pass the deadly gate armed with dangerous traps.
The guy made it just barely but the girl didn't. The next time she tried, she finally got caught by the security system with electric spider webs. The webs immobilized her and then series of mechanical surgical tools emerged into her. It gave her a strong dose of pain killer and amputated all of her limbs while she was conscious.
