Depends what you mean by detail. $300 isn't much more than a hand wash and wax, maybe a clay bar and fast polish of major body panels. A real detailing job to better than factory can take several days of meticulous hand work 8 hours a day under 1500 watt halogens.

That place is across the street from the clinic I work at, I have no idea how good it is but theres always a backlog of BMWs and exotics in the lot, cant hurt to check it out.

$300 for a wash and a wax? Anyone who pays that much for a glorified car wash is a complete idiot.

No shit. 300$ here will get me an interior detail, exterior wash, claybar, wax, and more.

Edit: ~$160 will get me a full interior detail (treat leather, shampoo carpets), exterior detail (wash, clay, buff, polish, sealant, and wax)

Wow....I'm all for taking care of your car...but $300 for what accounts to a hand wash and wax...something I do pretty regularly...holy crap.

In my experience you're exaggerating a bit here.

$300 should get you wash, clay, polish and sealant...maybe a top-coat wax for extra shine.

Yeah, kids can do a detailing job cheaper than people who do it for a living can.

Half an hour for wheel wash, hour for paint wash, half an hour for clay, half an hour to tape off properly, hour and a half to polish, half an hour to wax, hour for cleanup... sounds about right

Wash it yourself? I could wash and wax and qtip every crevice in under 2 hours. You make more than $150 an hour?

With that said my parents go to Jimmys. it's about $185 for my moms 500 sl. LTC.
