Anybody purchase eyeglasses online??

I have had to wear glasses for about a year now and I need a new pair or two. They are too expensive at most stores so I was wondering if anybody has purchased any online and, if so, where?

I would reccomend against that, you wouldn't have the advantage of trying the frames out, and if need be, make adjustments when you recieve them...(you can always mod em yourself though)

thanks, that was pretty much what I was wondering. I would hate to get a pair that didn't fit right.

go to costco, buy some nikon titanium frames...its a steal at less than $100

I was thinking about Costco, but they don't take insurance. They do have quality glasses though.

I guess if you knew exactly what you wanted and you could find it online for less... I would buy them from a local store. It's nice to get free adjustments and if something is wrong, they have to fix it. In your case, if you could try some frames on you liked and buy them online, it may work for ya.

I have to rant about the price of eyeglasses. People squawk and moan about Microsoft's monopoly, but the going price for eyeglass frames sure seems shady to me. Not one word about that, though. Even Walmart's prices are high. When you look at the amount of labor and material that goes into a frame, you gotta wonder! :frown:

They finally clamped down on the contact lens issue, but these eyeglass frame manufacturers and retailers are no better. I'd sure like to know how they keep the prices so damn high!
