go 1024x768 at high quality...well, it depends on your cpu. as long as your system is running at xp3200+ or athlon 64 2800+, or pentium 3.0 GHz, then you can run at high quality. if your cpu is slower then that, you'll have to play at medium setting. note that there is currently do desktop pc where you can play the game at ultra quality smoothly. the game wont even run in my comp.

Playing it at 1280x1024 @ medium detail on a Dual 2800 MP (266 memory due to MPX chipset, so probably not as quick as most 2800 systems with 400 mhz memory)

The speed is not too bad, though it does get down to 15 fps or so at times. Average is probably around 30-35 fps.

I have a 9800Pro 128mb, and playing it at 1920x1200 at medium setting. I get 30-40fps except in fights, where it drops to about 10fps. I'm getting hurt a lot more because of the dip in fps, but i'm enjoying this resolution for now... i might move over to my 18" lcd if i find the fps hampering me too much.

I have a AthlonXP2600+, Nforce2, 512ram, R9800Pro. Praying that it will run good. I think I can get by on high.

no, you'll need at least xp3200 to run it on high, which is fine enough to be playable. try overclocking it. then you'll be fine. :)

Hey is Doom 3 SMP aware like Quake 3 was? Maybe you can find a way to turn it on

I can play with an overclocked 5900XT @ 1024x768, high detail and I average 30fps which is smooth enough because of the game's slow pace.

XP 3200+
1 GB ram
9800 Pro AIW

1024x768 no AA high detail
runs nice and smooth. 1280 is choppy, and I haven't gone up to ultra settings yet.

I'm having problems as my card overheats at stock settings. I play for 30 seconds and get artifacts which get worse until it crashes. I've had to underclock from 378 to 367 MHz on the core to keep it running. :(

i'm just stating wut the review for doom 3 systems were. i really dont know how well it can run on specific cpu's, but i'm just puttin down wut other guys in this forum mentiuned before. :) then again, u have a gt. try running it on an 9800 pro and tell me how it goes. it seems other people have the 9800 pro and a 2500+ or less and arent able to run the game very well according to their likes.

This game doesn't really push the CPU at all...

I use medium settings @ 1280x1024, no AA or AF.

P4C 3.0@3.4ghz\1GB PC3500\9800Pro @ 395\360.

Anyone else fine that Doom 3 showed artifacts not shown by any other software? It knocked my OC down by 25mhz!!!

But yeah, I want higher details and some AA and AF.... Need 6800U.

I hear ya.. :D

But my buddy just got it also..

P4 3.2
9800 XT
1GB Corsair
Raptors RAID 0

He runs 1280x1024 and has no issues at high, and said it's actually very playable at the ultra setting also..(Granted i didn't see it myself ) he's quite the gamer, so it's not like he's pulling in 15fps and saying it's nice ;)

I think tomorrow and the next few days people will be pleseantly suprised how well this game really runs..

I am very exicted.

Go Carmack.

:)

Running at 1024x768 high quality, with vsync enabled. PC is an AXP2500+ OC'ed to 2.2GHz and a 128MB 9800 Pro. Runs just fine for the most part. It occassionally freezes for just a split second when I enter a new area but other than that it's fine. Not sure if there is a way to get away from that freeze. Maybe taking it down to 800x600 will fix the problem but I'll have to try that later tonight when I get home.

Tom

The freeze between new area's is texture loads and other items transferring to the AGP card id imagine.

My 9600 pro is going to die a horrible horrible death when I load up doom 3 :(

At tleast assuming that a 9600Pro is ~= to a 9600XT (and going by Anand's benches)
