Anybody out there have a Tempurpedic mattress?

I'm seriously considering getting a Tempurpedic mattress - I've tried one out at a store and was amazed by how comfortable it was. But I'm wondering if it's worth the price.

I also understand that there are some Tempurpedic "substitutes" out there. Does anybody have any experience with any of those?

i have one and its superfragalisticexpialidosis... totally worth it. however, its not a good bed to have sex on... you don't get the bounce effect.

I've slept on one and didn't care for it - too cocoon-y. I think my ideal might be a regular spring mattress with a memory foam cover.

My understanding is that any of several latex mattresses offer the same benefits as a Tempur-Pedic at a far lower price, but I have no experience with them. Costco sells one that I would try if I were looking to try a latex mattress.

my roommate has one of the "replica" ones (bob-o-pedic). It is comfortable to lay on (not so much sit on though). He does complain about how warm it gets in the summer but overall he doesn't complain that much so I guess its alright. Oh, they are a PITA to move though, just a heads up.

Have one and I love it, never slept better, I think there are different firmness options.

Yup, was just about to say the same thing. Its wonderfully comfortable, but sometimes, you need a lil leverage, and the tempurpedic just doesnt have it.

its true.. but if squeeking is an issue, the temperpedic is good .. not to mention it gives you comfortbility in awkward positions by supporting exactly whta needs to be supported only sucks if you're on top.. but it makes you discover new positions

I got a tempurpedic for myself and a foam order for the inlaw (that lives with me)..

foam orders firmest is like the regular tempurpedic.. even though they tell you the medium firm is similar... if you want to save $, foam order one is pretty good.. its almost 1/2 the price of the tempurpedic..

I have a king size tempurpedic that set me back by $2k...but it's totally worth it for me. I find it difficult to sleep on any other mattress now. Also, I toss around a bit before falling asleep and it used to bug my wife a lot. But with the tempurpedic she hasn't complained once. It takes a few weeks for the mattress to settle though and it weighs a ton.

I had one of those Costco pads. My back had hurt for about 2 weeks and I thought I had strained it at work. I took off the pad and slept on my normal mattress and I haven't had back pain in a month. I think you really need to get the real mattress and not the generic substitutes. I felt like I had no back support and I just slouched all night in my sleep.

Check out Memoryfoam.com You can post on the forum your sleep habits, i.e. side sleeper, stomach sleeper, etc and they will recommend a setup for you. You can get various layers of latex and memory foam at the desired firmness to make a really nice setup. The nice thing is that if the memory foam layer wears out before the core layers you can replace just that layer.

When we moved in together, my girlfriend insisted that we use her temperpedic. She loves it becuase she sleeps on her side, so it adjust to her hips and shoulders, keeps her neck straight or whatever. I hate it cause I sleep on my stomach, so my whole body sinks in except for me head, and my neck always hurts. I prefer spring mattress with pillow top, I feel its much more supportive.

i have a king and love it. i did have a select a number air bed but after trying the Temprapedic (SP) memory foam mattress i bought it. its is awesome.

I have a Temp Rhapsody. It uses a top layer of high density latex foam so it feels a bit different than the classic ones. I was set on a regular Sterns and Foster mattress and my wife was set on a foam mattress. That one particular 'rhapsody' set was the only foam mattress I could stand. the other foam mattresses from Tempurpedic felt too confining. Our old set was a sealy that had been soundly worn out getting dragged around with the military.

After sleeping on the Tempurpedic it for about 6 months the wife and I both love it. I did sleep on my side with my arm above my head. Now I find myself sleeping on my back more and when I do sleep on my side the shoulder pain I would get sometimes has disappeared. No issues with the sex on the HD foam.

i have one of those 3 inch memory foam mattress pads. It works great. Not sure if I will get a complete mattress though. I am heavy, and don't want to sink that deep in. Support is very comfortable.

I also have pillows.

Anyway, for me, ideal would probably be 6" of foam, and the bottom be something along the lines of a firm mattress for support.
