Guys....

I need help! How do you make the new Celerons with the .13 micron core (256K cache) to work with our some-what old Socket-370 FC-PGA motherboards? Please help out cuz i just bought one and it doesn't work with my half year old Socket 370 motherboard! Help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Allen

Hehe...Thanks alot AndyHui! Do you know any motherboard that's real cheap and overclocks the best? I need it real soon because i just bought this processor and i don't have a motherboard to run with....expecially being this system going to Berkeley for my brother whose about to leave this Sunday! haha....anyways! Thanks for the info....really appreciate it!

Thanks,

Allen

Mind you, Andy is giving you the "official line" on compatability. There are some folks who have figured out how to "hack" their older motherboards to work with Tualatin processors. That solution is beyond many and I wouldn't recommend it. It might be a solution for a few people who want to research it out and be brave.

There are alot of good mother boards which will work with that CPU. Pretty much any new PIII/Celeron mobo will work with the Tualatin processors since they have mostly all been updated to support them.

Personally I'd recommend either an ASUS TUSL2-C or an ABIT ST6. Both are based on the Intel 815 chipset so they cost a little more than VIA chipset solutions. Do a search on www.pricewatch.com under the motherboard section by typing in ABIT ST6 and you will find the cheapest vendors. I think they can be had for around $83 or so which aint bad. Newegg has the ASUS SIS chipset motherboards for $65 which work with the Tualatins which we use at the bank where I work. I'd get the 815 chipset mobos if you are interested in OCing, if not, the cheapest is probably that SUS SIS chipset mobo.

I've had good luck with my Abit VH6T. Sure, it's a VIA chipset, but it works and overclocks just fine. Plus it is cheap. Newegg has a refurb VH6T For $63 with free shipping.
