I'm taking an IS course now. I actually hate it, which surprises me. I think I had too much knowledge going into it, and I'm having a hard time repressing it so I can answer the questions the way they want them answered. :(

Best way to do it: college career fairs. The companies that are looking are likely to turn out there, actively recruiting.

Second best way: identify employers in your area and go check out their website (don't use Monster, etc. Sites like that are expensive to post on and usually few of the total postions make it to the job boards.)

[edit] Monster etc. are useful for locating companies in your area. Just do an area search and see what returns (don't worry about keywords or industry, you're only looking for company names.)

Well, my interview experience is with the Big 4 accounting firms, and I know that all four (Deloitte, PwC, E&Y, and KPMG) actively seek out IS majors for their IS audit departments. I'm not as familiar with the other consulting firms other than by name and reputation, but McKinsey, BCG, Bain & Co, are all good places to start doing some reading and checking job listings.

Here's how you do it: write a resume, make connections. Short of connections, do research on the companies YOU want to internship for. Visit their website, make some calls, see who you can send your resume to.

If you wait for things to come to you, you will be horribly disappointed in the results, whether it's no internship or a crappy internship.

Agreed.

Is there a Beta Alpha Psi chapter @ your university? That is, by far, the easiest way to meet recruiters that I've seen thus far, most chapters go out of their way to make it easy. Otherwise, scope out career fairs, "Meet the Firms" type nights, etc.

if i remember correclty i believe you implied in previous posts that you landed an internship at McKinsey. If thats true then congrats, that was the most difficult case interview I've ever had, much tougher than BCG and Mercer.
