Anybody know the part number of the 3rd gen 10gb iPod

fs5

Lifer
Trying to buy one on the apple store online that's refurbished, there's no pic but they give a part number as F8976LL/A while a NEW 10gb iPod is M8976LL/A.

Did I get the newest iPod or the 2nd gen.

Did they ever release firmware to 'upgrade' 2nd gen to 3rd gen??? They said they would but I don't think they did...

Says M8976ll/a on my reciept, I got mine on the first day it came out for $287 incl tax shipped overnight

there is an FW thread on these, there's no pic so I'm not sure if it's 2nd gen or 3rd:

isn't the 3rd generation the only one that can dock?

$229 is third generation. $169 is second generation.

Edit: If you are looking at the $229 one, why not spend $50 more and get an additional 5 GB and the $40 dock?

honestly I don't think I would need 5 extra gb. I'll mainly use it for working out and 10 gb is plenty of music (nobody will EVER need more than 640kb! 🙂). The dock I don't think I'll use either... wait a minute, I can fleabay the dock for $35 so really 5 extra gb will only cost me $15 + tax....

I hate you AU Tiger 🙂

crap.. the 15gb comes with a case and a remote , time to change my order..

I love you AU Tiger 🙂
