I presently have 4 domains hosted over at Bihira.org. Their prices are superb, and the response time from the owner on issues is great.

The problem is that there are issues. Lots of them. I've had several hours of downtime a week for the past 2 months. At the moment my sites are down, have been for 3 hours (at least), and I have no idea when they're coming back up.

So, anybody know of any decent hosts?

I need:
The ability to host 4 domains (they can share bandwidth/cpu no problem)
Minimum 50GB bandwidth (I presently get 2.5TB)
Minimum 1GB storage space
PHP, MySQL
cpanel is a plus

And price is an issue... I presently pay a whopping $2.50 a month for everything (yeah, I know, you get what you pay for), and would ideally not like to end up paying 10 times that.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Never had an issue with Godaddy. Been with them for the past year after I kept running out of space (and paying twice as much) with my old provider.

I just switched to cookiehost and plan to add a domain or two. Found a coupon here and am paying $8 for the first year. Only been with them a few weeks, but so far so good, and more features than I had with web.com for a lot less money.

Yeah, I'd rather not pay for a business connection at my house :p

How are the up times on the various hosts suggested so far?

My host is honestly somewhere around 85% uptime at this point - I'm looking for 99.99%.

I've been using GoDaddy after being on some other hosting providers. The only negative aspect, in my opinion, is that they don't have as many administrator features as other sites. I actually kind of miss the old CPanel that I had from all my prior hosting companies. But GoDaddy also handles my domain names.

I'm leaning towards GoDaddy at this point, just because I'm hesitant to try another smaller shop and end up needing to move again soon.

I have a pretty active forum on one of my domains that I'd really rather not subject to frequent moves and outages.

I have Hosting Puppy, and other than one glitch period (when they had transferred ownership), they have met all of my needs. I pay $1/mo for 1 GB space, 10 GB transfer, so you can pay $3 for 3 GB / 30 GB, I believe.

Wow, my host is still down. Awesome.

I've narrowed it down to HostGator and GoDaddy. Godaddy would be cheaper to transfer my domains to, and offers some fun perks, but HostGator appears to be more similar to my current setup in terms of services offered.

Ahh I totally forgot about cpanel. I miss that too. :)

Uptime is very commonly exaggerated (or miscalculated). I highly doubt you are really at 85%

85% is down for almost 4 hours a day.
95% is down for an hour a day.
99% is down for 7 hours a month (this seems like what you described)
99.9% is down for 40 minutes a month
99.99% is down for 4 minutes a month or less then an hour a year.
99.9999% (like ViviTheMage said), means 1 minute down for the 2 years he had them.

I'm using them as well. No complaints and I get a good response on support tickets.

For GoDaddy users, how is the spam filtering? Is it just the same SpamAssassin that everyone else offers?

I'm spoiled at work since we use the SpamStopsHere filtering service, which has a massive, constantly-updated database of spam content (links and phone numbers) to match against in addition to the typical set of rules and blacklists.

DreamHost. They are forgiving when it comes to idiots like me who forget to pay bills on time :p If you need a nifty promo code that would benefit us both, PM me :)

I've used Hosting/Reseller Zoom for a couple years now and haven't had any problems.

They offer clustered servers now w/ a very high uptime for $8 a month (if you prepay 24 mos).

Hosting Zoom

I think they'll even transfer all your sites for free if you give them your login to your old whm/cpanel host.
