Anybody know if there's an AMD based case like this ??

I'm gonna turn this into my DVD/TV recorder/Emulator system.
Gonna throw a PCI AIW in there + a sound card w/ Optical out & a RAID card w/ a pair of 40giggers stripped.
I'd prefer to be able to fit like a 1.4Tbird in there if possible.

Please LMK - TIA

If you are going to use your own components anyway, why not get a cheap desktop case and paint it black if you want. Just a thought.

Size my friend. This thing is perfect. as small as a vcr - with enough space for 3 pci cards (aiw radeon, soundcard w/ optical out, raid card) 2 - possibly 3 hdd's if I can find a usb hub that doesn't take up much of the 3.5" bay.

It's going to be my DVD/TV recorder/Emulator box.
Since i'll be capturing - the availability of a pci slot for a raid card is nice.
since i'll also do encoding & such on it - I'd like to put some cheap AMD power to work.
(I'm not sure if it would even support over a 1G p3)

& I've already decided to get an MS-6215 - with a Celeron for my Jukebox - it would be nice to keep the tables even 😉

If I see one around I'll let you know. I did see at a computer show however that they had some ready made computers that looked like a thin client. A really small case! I will see if I can stumble onto one. Good luck!

I have a question for you joinT. I am seeing these cases with 135-145 watt PSU's. Is that going to be enough for what you are wanting or are you going to try and mod in a biggerone?

The board is a standard microATX. Just swap it out. (though the PS might be an issue)

Edit: they use PCI riser cards a la rackmount systems.

ok. MoFunk - the thing I really want this case for is because it uses a riser card & therefore I can have full-sized PCI cards as opposed to low profile.

ClarkMo - wow that case looks really nice - unfortunately same problemo.

finally - Demon-Xanth - how does the riser board work ?? Does it work w/ any mATX motherboard ?? Do I just plug it into a PCI slot on the motherboard ?? Cuz they sell the case without the mobo. & it comes with riser card so I could pretty easily pull it off.

I've seen some mATX cases w/ small psu's that were AMD approved. If I experience problems I'll probably try & grab one of those.

Many server sites sell risers. If you wanted to use 3 PCI slots, get 3 different height 90-degree PCI risers. They are widely available

so I'm correct then that you plug the riser card into a PCI slot & need nothing special ??
cuz the case comes w/ a 3 slot PCI riser card for $85 w/ PSU.

doh! I just noticed that the PSU size is proprietary.

The PSU looks like the same size as the one we are using on a flat panel PC built by DFI, I think it's a semi-standard size used in small apps.

Well, do you know if there are any of that size that are AMD approved ?

Also - still looking for an answer on my riser-board question

thanks

<< Yes, you need no drivers with the riser cards, plug it in and go. >>

anybody know of a AMD approved 1U psu ?

Well - I think I'm just going to grab the black one I pictured - I don't feel like having to order seperate riser cards, etc.
I also think I'm gonna just go w/ a P3 so it easier to keep cool & quiet
