Anybody know how to set Permissions, Audits, and Quotas on folders in XP?

If I share a folder in WinXP, how do I set the permissions on it? I also need to setup up some auditing and quotas. Unfortunately XP only gives me two options, 1: Share this Folder, and 2: Allow other users to change my files.

I am pretty sure there is a way to enable it, but I am not sure how.
 
in a windows explorer window, go to tools->folder options->view tab the very last option in that list is "use simple file sharing." turn this off and you should be able to set up shares just like in win2k
 
Be mindful of the differences between share permissions and NTFS permissions.
Share permissions are only enforced over the network. On the local machine, they have no relavance.
So, if you've just got one box, forgoe the share permissions and just use straight NTFS permissions to control access.

Auditing must be enabled in group policy first (enter "gpedit.msc" at the run line, no quotes). It's under the security options.
Sounds like you want to audit who is accessing certain files/folders, so you would want to enable "object access".
You can audit failure and/or sucess. Generally you would only want to audit failures.

Once auditing is enabled in policy, you can turn it on for a folder/file through the properties sheet of said file/folder.

I am trying to figure out the same thing.

I'm trying to use local machine user permissions in 2k. It seems as soon as I disallow anything for any user the folders are unuseable by everyone including administrator.

I couldn't find a basic tutorial on the MS site, I did everything it said. It seems fairly straightforward. Either I'm not understanding the system or I've gotten something checked somewhere that I shouldn't. Anyone have any suggestions or can point me toward a good faq or tutorial somewhere?
