I think the best translation would be "perjudicarse social"

Which means to "lose out socially"

retar and desafiar mean to challenge someone like to a game or duel





 
hrm, well it would make more sense in the imperfect, as it has happend in the past yet is is still continuing, you could also do it in the past perfect......to mean it has just happend recently and is still going on, but the way i figure it, you've been socially challenged all of your life, at least since lets see.....uh Mar 2002 😀
