Anybody know anything about towing a car?

So my car got towed yesterday - bummer.

It's a 5 speed front wheel drive and I park it in neutral (bad habit, I know) with the e-brake pulled tight.

When I picked it up at the impound I noticed that the emergency brake wasn't engaged anymore and it was in 4th gear.

Is this normal when towing a car?

yes. quality tow truck operators jimmy your lock, and out your car in gear and disengage the brakes.

else your wheels will be smoken as he tows it away. and he's liable foir damage to your brakes/tires/rotors.

Tow truck driver got in your car to take the brake off. Standard practice. Can't tow the car otherwise.

yeah they can. i've seen it done.

riuns the car's tires and/or brakes/rotors. (imagine pushing a car for miles with the brakes on. now imagine the tires/brakes/rotors burning on that car at 60miles per hr.)
