Anybody know anything about brakes?

So I'm getting a new set of brembo blanks for my car...now I'm on a search for some brake pads...

I've narrowed it down to either some Axxis pads or some Hawk HPS pads (more than likely I'll go with the hawk)

Anybody care to englighten me as to the differences between metallic/semimetallic/organic?

I drive pretty aggressively on the street and do the occasional mountain run...no autox or road courses though...so suggestions/comments would be appreciated too =)

the metallics will eat up your rotors faster than the semimetallics and the semimetallics will eat them up faster than the organics

Go buy a copy of Boost Managzine (new mag put out by Car and Driver). It's got a great article on upgrading brakes, why it doesn't always accomplish anything and what you can do to maximize the utility of your upgrade...

I don't know about semi brakes...just car brakes...sorry 😉

I recommend you use whatever kind (organic, metallic, etc) that was in your car before. Switching between them isn't good for your rotors.

Why not ask the genius who suggested you 'upgrade' your rotors in the first place?

Getting too much fade with your pretty aggressive street driving and occasional mountain runs? If not, factory pad composition is perfect.
