Anybody know anything about Acer computers?

I already have a nice desktop, and am thinking of getting a cheap laptop to run just surf the internet wirelessly, or type a paper on once in a while, not anyting real big. I just heard about the company Acer recently, it looks like they put some impressive hardware in their notebooks for a good price? My initial thought is that this may be too god to be true, and was wondering if anybody has tried one yet?

Well, they're a large company that's been around for a long time, but I don't know much about their notebook computers. I'd be very surprised if I found out they were junk though.

Try searching for Acer in the SFF/Notebooks section here and at http://notebookforums.com to find out about common issues though.

EDIT: Wow! No posts in almost eight hours, then two in the same minute. 🙂

WA Ag Dept uses them, and my old man had either two or three die on him over three years 😛 But that's my only experience of them...

Get a toshiba if u can afford it-rock solid reliability, i've personally owned 2, the first being a pentium 120mhz tecra that only gave up last year after a stoned yank pissed on it, and the second which i still use, a 333mhz AMD Satellite that i still use for IE, word, and dropping photos from the ca,mera when i'm out country way-still get bout 2hrs battery life 🙂

we have ACER comp.'s at my school and they are very stable, and many of my fellow students also have ACER notebooks. if you want a cheap quality brand, i would highly recemend Acer..
