Yes, I just got enough with my current motherboard. I bought a defect product, return it for the same motherboard, Chaintech VNF3-250, and still it doesnt work perfectly. I got random error and crashes. From the memory to the video card, the compatibility for this motherboard really sux. THen when its all fixed, I got problems with my keyboard and mouse, which is fixed by putting the keyboard into the usb instead of PS2, weird isnt it?

So, anybody here know what motherboard that is very compatible with everything, runs great with my new AMD 64 3000+? Price is not a problem as long as it is not too expensive of course (Not more than $200), wont be needing Gigabit Ethernet, and I will be playing a lot of games with my Radeon 9800 Pro. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks....

very odd, i cant praise mine enough, sorry to hear ur having issues with your chaintech, this is the best system ive ever built, and ive had lots of configs in the past. one thing i will say is i had random reboots when i first went a64 with a aopen via based mobo. sent it back, got refund but vendor said wasent faulty, braught this chaintech, would not shut down properly and sometimes not turn on. turns out my cheapo 450w power supply was the cause. replaced it with a 350w HYPER psu from me bro inlaws shop and its been solid for months now. maybe try ur psu?? as for alternatives, soltek make some solid boards, maybe try one of theres?

If you're using some generic power supply, I recommend the sparkle 300w for $20 at one pricewatch vender. My sparkle 300w is solid, and overclocks my p4 by over 30%.

As the others have mentioned, it could be other parts of your system which is causing the problem. Generic power supplies give many problems and imo should never be used. Cheap RAM also cause problems and may manifest in random reboots.

$200 is quite alot for a m/b if you only invested $77 for the chaintech.

Yes I know that..

As for the power supply, it is a good power supply. I've been using that since 1 year ago, it is an Antec Performance True Power 430w, so it shouldn't be the problem...

As for the price, I know its a big jump. I just got some bucks from selling some stuff and I am willing to see if there is a better board than this. I know a lot of people praise the board, but lotsa people hate it too, so I dunno...

Anyone know great mobo for AMD64 would be cool, or at least help me how to fix the problem. I am now trying to change the memory. I just got a new memory of Kingston value of 1 Gigabyte, gonna try it soon. So, hopefully after that nothing is wrong anymore...

It isn't a brand new board, but I highly recommend the Asus K8V SE Deluxe. It comes standard with gigabit LAN, but it runs awesome. I have had mine up for over a month with no issues whatsoever.

For a good m/b for mild or no oc'ing, I'd get the Asrock K8S8X (which is oos? at newegg) or the Soltek which uses the nf3-250gb, both cost less than $100 at newegg or the DFI for aggressive overclocks which sells for ~$145.

There is a 754 m/b roundup at anandtech for more info on the Soltek,DFI.

I justed purchased a Chaintech VNF-250 and a AMD Athlon 64 2800+ with retail HSF used off the pcper.com forums. The chaintech mobo works great (running 03/08/04 bios), o/c the 2800+ from 1.8ghz to 2.344ghz at vcore = 1.7v with my memory running 2-2-2-5

System is 100% stable. I love the 2800+/chaintech combo.

Sorry to hear that your previous experiences with the vnf-250 have been bad.
