I've been thinking about getting tattoo for about a year. I don't know what I want to get yet. What I was wondering was what made you get the tattoo that you got? I've got a few possibilities, but I haven't made a decision yet. Thanks for the help. ;)

Don't get one until you're absolutely sure what you want and where. It'll be on your body for probably the rest of your life.

They are also addictive ;)

I have 3 tattoos - first I got Snoopy, then Woodstock. After that I grew out of the cartoon phase and got a tribal sun. I think the first one was to be a little rebel. Then it was just something I wanted to do for myself. Besides, Napalm381 likes 'em ;)

I know where. I just don't know what. I've been struggling with the decision for a long time. ARGH!

i can't get any yet, but when i turn 18 i am probably gonna get one... just make sure it means something to you which is very special and you will always cherish, because if your opinion changes, you will be stuck with it unless you can find a talented artist who can change it into something else or get it removed

I have one so far. It's a Celtic cross on my left bicep. I put alot of thought into it, seriously. I spent years waffling on what to get. I ended up picking what I did because I am sure I'll never regret having it. It'll always mean something to me.

One of my friends had a deal with his girlfriend - she would only get her navel pierced if he got a tattoo. So they both did their part, then she took her new ring out and dumped him.
I never laughed so hard as when he told me that story.

Just remember, even the coolest tattoo will look like a big black smudge when you get older. If you get something trendy it will look even stupider in a few year (ahem, tribal stuff).

So, TG, where are the tat's located?? ;)

My wife has 3. A Tribal design around her left ankle. A rose w/ barbed wire on her right ankle, and a design on the small of her back (I don't know how to explain what it looks like.)

I have yet to get one. Been thinking of getting my tongue pierced, though....

My neighbour had a tattoo on her forearm and wanted to have it removed but because she had no money, she decided to do it herself. She took a knife, put the blade for 30 seconds on a flame and she did it ! I saw it weeks later, it was horrible, I think she'll have a scare for the rest of her life...
So you had better be sure before doing it !!!

Hell, if I got the tattoo and then decided I didn't want it, I think I would just live it rather than try removing it myself. Besides, I've been thinking about it off and on for a year. I KNOW that I want one. I just haven't found the one yet.

That's for me to know and for you never to find out ;)

Btw, tongue is cool. I've had mine for 4 weeks now. Wasn't so fond of it the first 2 weeks, but now I love it!!! :)

What you might try is getting the designs that you want done in a Henna tattoo first. That could help you decide which one you want and it'll only last a little while. It should definitely have some kind of substantial meaning to you though and not just part of a phase you're going through...

Remove a tatoo yourself? That sounds a little.. insane ...

That's like those people that will keep their lighters lit for a while, then burn "smiley faces" into themselves, just for the hell of it... *ponder*
