Anybody here using this RAM? How is it?

Have seen some people over at overclockers.com recommending it and the reviews on newegg are all positive. One of my Corsair XMS sticks isn't working out for o/c'ing in my setup and figured I'd go ahead and get something a little better. Same tccd chips that OCZ uses and only $220.50 right (for 2x512) now @ newegg.

I have this ram from Newegg. I have to run it at 2-2-3-5 (TRP +1) on my A64 3200+ at stock speeds in order for it to prime95 stable pass three hours.

I've got 1GB sitting in my motherboard over there, waiting for my CPU. I'll tell you how it works out when I get it.

I'll let you know later. Going to fry's to pick up my 3rd 939 mobo, this time MSI neo2. God I hate paying premium for MSI but everyone says at xtreme this is best mobo for 939.....

i bought the regular Low Latency stuff, and for some reason it wont do the advertised 2-3-2-5 that it says it will. I have the rest on auto, but the cas latency is only stable on 2.5.

Wrong. The PCBs on the PDP Patriot XBL and OCZ's TCCD chips are both Brainpower designs. Now, it is true that Brainpower has slight variations on the PCB design, 808, 815, etc, but I'm not sure there's a big difference there.

The reason OCZs cost more is because they get the best binned chips, the best of the batch, and also reputation.

Well my RAM finally arrived yesterday. Installed it and set timings to stock 2-2-2-5 1T @ 200HTT. Booted up and ran fine. Then I set HTT to 250, timings @ 2.5-3-3-7 1T, 2.8v, 1:1. I also upped the core voltage to 1.47 to help ensure stability. Ran Prime for almost 16hrs, no errors. Now I'm going for 266HTT, 3-4-4-8 1T @2.9v 1:1. I want to make sure this RAM is stable at all the spec'd speeds, then try to push it a little and see what I can get out of it. Seems to be very nice so far, I'll update when I start seeing some limits.

System specs:

A64 3000+ Winchester
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, BIOS 1.41
2x512 Patriot 3200XBL dual kit
Antec True Power 430w
ATI 9800 Pro
Sound Blaster Live!
Maxtor 200G DiamondMax 10 PATA
Maxtor 80G PATA
Seagate 160G SATA (port3)
TDK VeloCD 52x/24x/48x CDRW
Acer 52x CD-ROM

Now have it running at 280HTT, 1:1 3-4-4-8 1T! This ram is definitely good stuff. O/C specs are:

9x
280HTT for 2520Mhz
3x HT
Max Mem 200Mhz
DIMM @ 2.85v
CPU @ 1.47v

This O/C is completely satisfactory for me, however I want to see how far the chip will go. I'd love to see 300 HTT out of it, but if it won't, no biggie. I think I'll go ahead and leave the ram at 1:1 until it pukes, then back it off and see how high I can get the fsb.

Considering it is more that $50 less and runs at these speeds, I certainly would. For all intents and purposes, these two are exactly the same, except rumor has it that OCZ is speed binning their chips.... perhaps PDP is as well?

well, it's always good to hear about newcomers stepping up!
madshrimps did a comparsion review of this module and the OCZ
http://www.madshrimps.be/?acti...e=1020&articID=258

I'm debating between this module and the Crucial XMS PC4400C25
http://www.viperlair.com/revie.../pc4400c25/index.shtml

Corsair definitley has the better reputation and support, but this PDP Partriot Module may OC better..

IMO Get ballistix. It's fastest in my tests and $109 for 512 stick

Where'd you see Ballistix for $109? Lowest I've seen it is $117 for 512MB, making it still more expensive.

Anyway, I can get 267FSB with no errors in memtest at 2.5-3-3-10 @2.85v on my AV8. At 269FSB at the same timings I got 8 errors on my 3rd pass and didn't feel like going on. Right now I'm running a divider on my Neo2 to find a good place for my CPU, and then I think I'll try the ram out again. The Neo2 is supposed to love TCCD, too, while the AV8 is fairly picky and doesn't like it a whole lot.
