I saw a brief segment about it on the History channel, and was thinking about getting a bottle for my birthday in a couple weeks. It sounded like it would be a good sipping whiskey. Before I spend the cashola I was wondering if anybody has tried it, and approximately how much it is per bottle.

Never bought a bottle of it, but I drink it on occassion. Its great stuff, although it seems to make one of my friends say really stupid things...

It's no Zima, but if you mix it with enough kool aid, you almost can't taste it. ;)
<---Just kidding.

I don't drink whiskey, I stick to beer, gin & tonics, and wine. But, one of my friends that is a big whiskey drinker swears by it, claiming it is the best.....

It is my bourbon of choice. I can't even drink a drop of JD anymore now that I'm used to this!

EDIT: As far as price, it is a premium brand but you can afford a fifth. Its not nearly as expensive as Grey Goose or Belvedere or any of those stupid trendy vodkas.

EDIT #2: That reminds me--I need to buy some Allied Domecq stock! Check out their impressive roster of brands here. As long as we don't have prohibition again, I'd say this is a good stock. Symbol on NYSE is AED (British company--stock just became available through NYSE on July 31st.)

I save Maker's Mark for special occassions, or when JD just doesnt hit the spot. Dont want to ruin something special by having it all the time ;)

Well I think I will get a bottle of it. After all, if n0cmonkey approves of it, I can't go wrong. ;)

I'm still in college, so getting recommendations for a decent bourbon can be pretty hard. Most people I know seem to prefer Natural Light.

Wow, quite an impressive lineup.

Although i'm not a huge bourbon drinker myself, Maker's Mark gets accolades from my uncle who considers himself a conoisseur. My favourite liquor is gin, and I generally stick to Bombay Sapphire but i've found a brand called Brecon from Wales that is quite good and doesn't have a ridiculous price premium over standard gins. ($29.95 vs. $22.95 for a 750mL regular brand)

Natty Light is good... for what you buy it for. In other words, you can get drunk off it... cheap.

Ah...suddenly the nick makes perfect sense. Crown is good also. I've got a bottle of poor man's Crown (Canadian Mist) in my house right now.

I used to drink MM a lot when I liked hard liquor but now it is only beer for me, if anything at all. I am getting old, lol.

Natty Light does get you drunk, cheaply, if you drink enough of it. Usually, I take a couple shots beforehand to numb my tastebuds up. I dont buy Natty myself. I buy good beer (Guinness) when I have a choice. But I dont complain when I go to a kegger and they have Natty. I just pre-game.

You mean, besides the fact that it tastes like pine-sol?

Gin and tonic ownz j00
and you have no room to talk natty ice boy

Hey, I drink my whiskey straight up. I guess you cant stand to drink gin straight up. ANYTHING can taste OK when you cover it enough. The test of a liquor is whether it can stand by itself.

At least you don't buy it yourself then... you have redeemed yourself by being a Guinness drinker. :D

... and Natty Light/Ice tastes like it's been cold-filtered through an old shoe. Different people have different tastes.

I regularly drink my gin with nothing more than a twist of lime.

I drink my JD straight up too, but I can chug any liquor as I have been blessed(?;)) with the ability to basicly take down anything... very fast

Ha. I've drank more Guinness then you'll ever see.

It doesnt taste like anything other than water after you drink 9 shots and 1 Guinness in 1 hour (my personal formula for a decent pre-game). And yes, that does involve the number 911 ;)

yeah, but I always drink my whiskey unadulterated. The most that goes into the glass besides whiskey might be some ice. Sometimes.
