Anybody here play EVE online?

I want to start playing a new mmorpg and I have it narrowed down to EVE online or City of Heroes. I like SWG but it just got to complicated after awhile. Which one of these would you recommend.

Thanks,
jst0ney

p.s. I know, I know, but I'm just not that interested in WOW.

yeah.. I was asleep when he posted this, then I had to get to work, do a few work things and then check out anandtech 😀

and a few infos

The Eve Map

This is the global map with the player alliances, its constantly changing as you can see with the old maps. The game originaly didnt originaly have any plans for alliances but the alliances just happened so the developers created an official alliance system.

Alot people play drunk

The devs ask fan sites to host dev chats on irc every once in a while, all these questions are from the players themselves.

See eve is complex

This is a tutorial from Castor or older though, not Exodus which is the version we have now, but it still applies for the most part, some interface changes been done.

And in my opinion eve rocks because the community is awsome, the devs are in actual contact with the community, the devs try to let the community have an impact on the storyline and its just a very deep game. Though few warnings, it is complex, you might hate it, you might love it and lastly, it is not a game, it is a hobby.

ohh I have to go on

http://www.eve-online.com/alliances/
this is the alliance webpage, shows the names, the number of corps and members and the logos which are ready

the alliances created the logos themselves sent them in to the ccp graphics department which made them "better"... or made them fit into the game

my alliance is SE, the biggest, bravest, best 😀
and whats more, my corp is the founder corp

has around 50.000 subscribers total, each account can have three characters but you can only train one of them at a time so most people only have one, some have two and have the other one do dirty work on the other side of the world since traveling can take some time, then the "alt" character only has a few skill points and not useful for much.

Some players though have two or more accounts so they can train more characters at the same time and even have two or more clients running at the same time, fanatics in other words 😛

hehe, I'm not a fanatic, only have one account and one character... with about 17million skill points 😀

But I have been playing for over a year which is amazing for me, lasted one month in dark ages of camelot, just the beta in lineage2, only a few hours or days in a few other betas. My next game to try out is wow, but thats in a few months since there is one thing I have learned, never buy an online game right after release.

oh yes, eve is very heavily pvp oriented, either trading in trading or fighting, just different kind of pvp 😉

now where is jst0ney, I dont want to keep on going hyping the game just for myself here

You wouldn't know it until you get out of Empire. God damned fvcking carebears with their macromining.

They do make for excellent sources of Scordite though. Mmm ... forbidden ore can ...

You scared him off, good job 😛

I probably would have started playing Eve if I wasn't a total Blizzard fanboy. I looked into it a little and it seems really cool if you're into slower paced games.

Wow thanks for all the responses. I think that I'm going to try this game this weekend. I ran accross a 14 day free trail link (in hot deals). I'll pm Czar when I sign up and maybe we can meet inside.
