So, I'm going to this conference in Anaheim in May, and could use some advise. They are puttingus up in a hotel a block from Disney. Are there any nice spas in the area that anyone would recommend? How about places to eat? Places worth seeing??

There's an ESPNZone in downtown Disney. There's a small hole in the wall mexican place near Tustin and Katella I think. I can't think of the name of the place though. Good mexican food :thumbsup:.
 
I work in Anaheim in the Downtown Disney District. Lots of places to eat in Downtown Disney (House of Blues, Rainforest Cafe, Jazz Kitchen, Tortilla Jo's, La Brea Bakery) and around the area. They have a your typical resturants surrounding the Disneyland Resort like Denny's, Coco's IHop, etc..
 
Can you walk around the Disney compound (not in the park)? Is it worth it - food entertainment wise? Just some stats: I am mid/late 20's married female, and my co-worker that I am going with is femlae, early 40's.

We are looking for a nice day spa to go to. As for food, pretty much anything goes. We're hoping to get as much free food out of the conference as we can so we can use the per diem on entertainment.

 
how many days do you have there? if you have a rental car, South Coast Plaza (about a 15-20 min drive) is a nice place with a nice spa. do a search on The Spa at South Coast.

I bought my sister-in-law and cousin gift certificates there and they LOVED it.
 
for a spa, there's Glen Ivy at the Brea Mall a few miles up the 57 from Anaheim I've been there, :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Downtown Disney is worth visiting once. There are some good eateries (but not very cheap).
The Block of Orange is similar to DD with good shopping/Food options.
The beach is always a good choice (cruising the Newport "boardwalk" is always entertaining).
If you like baseball, you can catch an Angels game.
If you like to iceskate there's a Disney Ice nearby (but that sort of defeats the purpose of coming to SoCal).
You can also get a park multi-day ticket for Dland and spend plenty of time there. If you've never been, you should go at least one day to see the original theme park.

Public trasit in OC sucks, so plan on a rental car if you want to venture away from the DL resort.
 
I was looking at the website for The Spa at South Coast earlier - it came up highly recommended on a Spa wervice website. I think we might go there. We will be there for 5 nights.

What do you mean - is this good or bad - it sounds not so good?
 
I traveled to LA last weekend for a shoot, and it had summer written all over it. So, at least take some summer clothes with you, or check the weather forecast. Don't dress for winter because it might be freezing at your region. I was lucky to have stayed there just 1 day, but it would have been nice if I had been prepared for summer since it was so breezy and enjoyable. We were going to kick it with friends, but we decided to leave the same night. So I can't really help with the hotel recommendation.

My relative was going to evaluate a spa in that area. However, I have no idea the name of the company. I may ask her.

Update: I spoke to my relative. She said it was ZIBA Beauty. It's both a salon and spa. Their locations are listed here: ZIBA.
