Oh, well I've slipped and fallen before without a problem. Did you land in an awkward position?

I didnt fall. I just slipped & once my foot slid off the paper it came to an abrupt stop when it hit the floor. I then flet a pop in me knee & the pain ensued.

I tore mine 4 years ago skiing. I opted not to have surgery, but I should have. The doctor told me it would only take a few weeks and I'd be fine again but I wasn't able to bend my knee or walk without a brace for a good 2 months, and I'm still wary of it while skiing in that I don't push as hard anymore. When I run regularly it hurts at night or the next morning, and last year while playing a pickup basketball game I had to stop because the lateral movement was too much. I think the next time something happens, I'm going to go in for surgery and get it fixed once and for all.

wth do you guys do that cause these injuries?

Work hard at physical jobs.

I blew out my knee stepping from the deck of a crane barge onto the deck of one of our crew boats in SF Bay. A bit more height than was prudent...hyper-extended the knee...POP went the ACL.

That and sports. Soccer and hockey, even softball can cause nasty knee injuries.

I had a grade 3 tear of my meniscus.

I had a mandatory building evacuation where I had to climb down 35 stories. My knee locked up and was killing me for weeks after. The orthopedist took an MRI and found the tear.

He said just do rehab and wait until you really need to for surgery. He also mentioned I have a slight tear in my ACL as well.

I didn't do rehab and continued on also taking chondritin, glucosamine and MSM. My knee doesn't hurt at all now. I can play volleyball and softball with no problems.

So far the worst part has been the constipation the anesthesia gave me. I finally caved in & drank a magnesium citrate. Ahh sweet relief!

Yeah, I hate narcotic pain meds for exactly the same reason. I'd make a terrible junkie.....

I had a bucket handle tear that separated on the end, classic "rock behind the door" symptoms, my knee would only straighten out so far and no more. That was in 1980, I had a modified arthroscopic surgery and was up on it in ~3 days. Now that knee is a bit better than the other one:)

I was back on my stationary bike today. I had to raise the seat quite a bit higher because of my limited range of motion. I rode about 3/4s of my normal intensity. Felt good to exercise again.
