Some great "facts" in this thread
"need to build your body with a good set of antibodies and such so you can fight off these later in life."
Genius, What do you think a vaccine does? I'll answer that for you, it causes your body to create more antibodies. Following your logic (which is not easy or correct, believe me) a person receiving their flu shot every year will actually have a larger set of antibodies than someone not getting the shot. Also, did you know that as you grow older, your immune system becomes weaker? Take any guesses as to how many ninety year olds had flu shots growing up (the vaccine was developed in 1944)? Then take a guess as to how many of the ninety year olds that will die from the flu this year will have had their flu shot this year?
What you speak carries more truth than you may realize. I have never had a flu shot and only had the flud once when I was @ 10 years old
I love this one. I've never had polio, why did they make me get that damn immunization? The next time you get the flu (and I promise, you will get the flu) you'll probably sing a different tune.
Why? Getting a flu shot is just weakening your immune system, making it easier to get the flu. I never get flu shots and I never get the flu
Funny sh!t. Weakening your immune system. How is that? Care to explain to me please why death and hospitalization rates from the flu are significantly lower in those receiving the flu vaccine?
Uncle Sam makes us get the flu shot every year . . . unfortunately, I get a mild flu every single time I get the shot
You aren't getting a "mild flu", you are feeling your immune system respond to the vaccine, a slight fever for a few hours is normal. I promise you 15 years of a few hours of fever far outweighs 1 week of not being able to get out of bed and 3 weeks of not feeling normal.
It is 100% impossible to get the flu from the flu injection.
Well it could be because the flu shot is a weak version of the flu that you are getting injected with
NO, it is an inactivated virus. Translation, it is a piece of protein that is a copy of a section of the "guessed" influenza virus strains that will affect our country this year. You make antibodies to that strand of protein.
and Chophouse continues to show how clueless he is
The reason it weakens your immune system is due to the fact that your body hasn't tried to fight it and as soon as you stop getting the shots you are in trouble
What do you think happens when you get an immunization? Your statements are so stupid its hard to even argue against them. When you get an immunization, your immune system is activated, produces antibodies against the virus and destroys the pieces of protein that were injected. Its no different than what happens when you get a cold .... your immune system finds the virus, creates antibodies, and then destroys the virus. If someone else in your family catches your cold, then gives the virus back to you, you don't get sick because your immune system quickly attacks and kills the virus before it can make you sick. This is how the flu vaccine works. Without question, the flu vaccine "strengthens" you immune system
