Common heart attack signs and symptoms include:

  • Pressure, tightness, pain, or a squeezing or aching sensation in your chest or arms that may spread to your neck, jaw or back
  • Nausea, indigestion, heartburn or abdominal pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cold sweat
  • Fatigue
  • Lightheadedness or sudden dizziness
More here and here.

When my mother had one she had chest pain and she said it felt like a ton of bricks sitting on her chest. The pain did go to her jaw and her fingers and then eventually her arms went numb. She was in a lot of pain.

Yes, because "first hand accounts from ATOTers" are INFINITELY more useful, reputable, and insightful than reams of published data from the foremost experts on the planet. Mayo Clinic? Cleveland Clinic? National Institutes of Health? Fuck those guys, some guy on ATOT said it felt like having a Yeti sprinkle pixie urine down my chest!

I imagine they feel a lot like reading some of your threads...

Yes I've had a Myocardial infarction. I had a severe stabbing pain in my chest along with vomiting and dizziness.

I had one in 1286. Sharp pain and shortness of breath. I died because healers back then didn't know what to do.
I've been reincarnated about 6 times since then and haven't had another.

Those descriptions of what a heart attack are like ARE FIRST HAND ACCOUNTS, you dumbass! What you're probably asking is what does it feel like when your heart STOPS. That's completely different. Yes a heart attack can precede your heart stopping but not always (hopefully!).

I talked to an old man once that said he had a heart attack and never knew it. He got hit by a car and came out ok, but years later a doctor told him he had a heart attack once before and he thinks that incident could have been the only time he thought where it would have happened. But could have happened in his sleep perhaps.

My grandfather died of a heart attack in his chair late one night while I was sleeping in the next room. If he was in pain, he didn't yell for anyone..it appeared as if he died while asleep. So maybe not all heart attacks are painful.

No two heart attacks are the same. As mentioned in this thread, there are conditions that pre-empt a heart attack or act like one without damaging any heart tissue. As for your grandfather dying in his chair, his heart could have given out very quickly.

I'm always interested in how doctors are able to determine the cause of death when someone dies of cancer or something to that effect when in most cases, the only thing that specifically links to the person dying is their heart stopping. Like my grandfather had leukemia yet his death certificate says he died of a heart attack. I mean if your liver fails, eventually toxins build up in the blood and the last thing that happens before the person dies, the heart stops. So how do they come up with the cause of death then? It feels very subjective the way they determine it.

I think I had one while reading the $9k bill to repair the rear end damage (trunk and bumper) to my car middle of April. Of course the person who hit me had insurance... ;)

I've heard when you have your first heart attack you're body can't process or recognize where the pain is eminating from so you're arm or some other part of your body will hurt like hell.

I've also always wondered why people are able to pretty much drive/move etc during a heart attack. I guess it all depends where the clot is. If it's in a major (aorta) vessel I guess you're pretty much gone, if it's in a minor area you can pretty much move around or you might even not notice you've had a heart attack.

My father had a stroke (brain) once and didn't even know until he had a 2nd major stroke (but still minor) and they found more than one stroke area in the brain.

On another note I've read the best place you can be during a heart attack is a freezer. If you're body temp is lowered you can survive longer until help arises. I remember seeing some video where a doctor was working on this helmet that goes around the skull and shoots N2, kind of freezing the brain. You can then spend longer time finding a solution for the patient.

We do that at work, you get pumped full of cold saline and get paralyzed

How long can you stay under with cold saline?

I imagine the saline provides no O2 transmission.

Could you simply cool the whole blood down to a few degrees above freezing the pass that through the body?
